This MATLAB/Simulink model showcases the Field-Oriented Control (FOC) of a Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM) with Maximum Torque Per Ampere (MTPA) strategy for high efficiency and optimized performance. The MTPA algorithm generates the reference values of Id and Iq currents, ensuring maximum torque output with minimum current usage. A set of Proportional-Integral (PI) controllers are implemented in both the outer speed loop and the inner current loops for precise speed control and accurate current tracking. To drive the motor, the inverter is modulated using the Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) technique, which provides smoother voltage utilization and reduced harmonic distortion compared to conventional PWM methods. This ready-to-use simulation model is ideal for researchers, students, and engineers working on electric drives, SynRM motor control, FOC algorithms, and MATLAB Simulink motor simulations.
